MIRAMSHAH, Aug 11: Two people were killed and three others injured on Saturday when security forces assisted by helicopter gunships attacked tribesmen near Mirali in North Waziristan Agency after a roadside blast.

Residents said that an army convoy was moving through the Patasi Adda area, near the Mirali town, when one of the vehicles hit an explosive device planted along the road. They said that the security forces suffered no casualty in the incident.

People said that security forces started targeting nearby houses, passenger vehicles and other people passing along the road. Cobra helicopters were also called in which started shelling. A civilian was reportedly killed on the spot, while another died in the Mirali hospital. Three other injured people were taken to the hospital.
