BAHAWALPUR, Aug 11: Saddar police on Saturday registered a case against 15 people, including a PML-N MPA, for allegedly hurling threats at a retired SP. Former SP Muhammad Iqbal Noon in his complaint alleged that MPA Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar and his associates, including Irshad Aurangzeb Channar, had threatened him and his son with dire consequences if they did not stop construction work on their petrol pump situated at Multan Road.

According to the retired SP, he had set up a petrol pump on his three-kanal plot. Recently the accused blocked one of the entrances to the filling station. Mr Noon said he filed an application with the highway department which had restrained the accused from any interference. He alleged that the accused threw away his articles and deployed their men to stop work. No arrest had so far been made.

DEATH SENTENCE: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Saturday handed down death sentence along with a fine of Rs500,000 to a man for killing two children of Ahmedpur East.
