GUJRANWALA, Aug 11: A bailiff of the district and sessions court recovered on Saturday a District Bar Association member who had been illegally detained at the Aimanabad police station.

Reports said the police had picked up Advocate Muharram Nawaz from his house and kept him in illegal confinement without registration of any case against him. His family moved the sessions court which ordered his recovery.

The court summoned the SHO and investigating officer for Monday (tomorrow).

EXHUMATION: District and Sessions Judge Mazhar Husain Minhas on Saturday ordered exhumation of a body to ascertain the cause of death and appointed special judicial magistrate Tasir Ahmad to supervise the medical board proceedings.

Mustaqim of Naushera Virkan was found dead at his outhouse. His relative, Hanif, moved court pleading that he (Mustaqim) was killed by his rivals over an old enmity.

The judge ordered exhumation of the body and formed a medical board to follow the case.

DISMISSAL: Nineteen officials of highway patrol police, including two assistant sub-inspectors, were dismissed from service here on Saturday.

Highway patrol SP Ahsan Javed reviewed the cases of these police officials and dismissed them from service. They included: assistant sub-inspector Muhammad Usman, ASI Gulzar Ahmad and constables — Sajjad, Ghulam Mustafa, Muzammil Husain, Yasir Fayyaz, Babar Yousaf, Hamid Ali, Atif Imran, Abdul Razzaq, Rafaqat Husain, Ahsan Pervaiz, Zaheeruddin, Faisal Baig, Ijaz Shaukat, Ghulam Raza and Sohail Ahmad.
