KARACHI, Aug 10: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz reviewed the flood situation in the coastal areas of Sindh, heavy rains in Karachi and the law and order, besides the political situation obtaining in the province at a meeting at the Governor’s House here on Friday.

Official sources said the prime minister pledged that the government would soon start rehabilitation of the affected people for which necessary funds had been earmarked with the objective to build better than before.

Although details of the meeting were not available to the media, sources said the recent reports about the possible imposition of a state of emergency in the country was among the issues deliberated upon at the meeting, which was attended by Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad, Senator Tariq Azim and several federal and provincial ministers.

Ongoing and planned development projects for the province including Karachi City also came up under the discussion.

Mr Aziz told the meeting that the projects relating to information technology, telecommunication, real estate, infrastructure development, banking and services, etc were bound to generate more and more employment opportunities for the people of Sindh and other provinces.
