HARIPUR, Aug 9: District Nazim Yousaf Ayub Khan has said that the district government has planned to set up a women resource centre in Haripur. Speaking at a ceremony held here on Thursday to award certificates to those women who had completed their computer training course, he said the district government had already selected a piece of land for the Rs2.2 million project and added that PC-1 for the scheme had been finalised.

The programme was jointly organised by the Goher Welfare Organisation and Barani Area Development Programme.

The nazim said the proposed centre would help women complainants get their problems resolved under one roof.

He said the district government wanted to provide equal opportunities to women and encouraged them to get jobs in the district government, agriculture and public health engineering departments. He said the district government would distribute sewing and knitting machines among different women resource centres so that skill development of women could be carried out for empowering them financially.
