KARACHI, Aug 9: The Sindh government has expressed apprehensions of a possible terrorist act coinciding with the Independence Day of Pakistan and has directed the government, semi-government and private entities to adopt precautionary measures while organising celebrations, sources in the home department told Dawn.

The provincial home department has issued an advisory to the government and semi-government organisations asking them not to hold walks and rallies in open spaces in connection with Independence Day, officials said.

While issuing the advisory the home department has advised the organisations concerned to adopt proper security measures while holding August 14 celebrations and to ask for police deployment from the SP of the area concerned. The advisory also stressed the strict monitoring of all the entry and exit points where Independence Day programmes are scheduled to be held.
