MIRPURKHAS, Aug 7: Pakistan Wapda Employees Paigham Union Mirpurkhas has expressed concern over non-implementation of prime minister’s orders to upgrade pay-scale of clerical staff and asked the Wapda chairman to honor it immediately.

This issue was raised during the union’s meeting on Tuesday, presided over by Divisional President Mohammad Hanif. The meeting also demanded promotion of the technical staff to ease unrest among employees.

The meeting through a resolution urged the government to reinstate sacked railway employees and repeal all black laws, including the IRO-2000.

Through another, participants demanded raise in salaries of Wapda employees keeping in view the price hike.

PARAMEDICS: A meeting of Sindh Paramedical Staff Welfare Association was held here on Tuesday. It was presided over by President Nazeer Ahmed Detho and attended by district and taluka office bearers of the province.

The meeting will continue the struggle till the acceptance of demands. Participants deplored the government for not accepting the charter of demand.

Nazeer Ahmed Detho condemned the vested interests trying to sabotage the ongoing negotiation between the association and government.

He demanded jobs to sons of deceased and retired employees, and promotion according to cadre and qualification.

Saleem Bhatti, Islamuddin Shah, Haji Dhal Baladi, Ghulam Mohammed and others also spoke on the occasion.

Load-shedding:Citing fire incident in Dadu grid station as being the prime reason, the Hesco authorities have resorted to unannounced power load-shedding in the district.

Besides hitting business activities, a number of operations were postponed in the government hospitals. Small industries including ice factories, oil spellers, chakkis etc. also remained closed.

The areas hit hard by power cut included: Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Mithi, Nagarparkar, Islamkot, Chhachhro, Diplo, Samaro, Kunri, Pithoro, Dhoronaro, Shadi Palli, Khipro, Sindhri, Phuladiyoon, Mirwah, Digri, Tando Jan Mohammed, Khaan, Jhillori, Jhuddo, Naokot and Kot Ghulam Mohammed.

People demanded of the Wapda Chairman to take notice of unannounced load-shedding and warned him of a protest campaign in case of failure.

POWER BILLS: Executive Engineer, Operation Mirpurkhas, Mohammed Haneef Meo has taken notice of neglecting recommendation of Hesco Meter and Testing Department (M&T) to issue detection bills to hundreds of consumers in Mirpurkhas division during the last six months and issued explanation letters to the SDO Satellite Town, Noor Mohammed Nizamani, the SDO City Ameer Ahmed Memon, the SDO Hirabad Farooque Afghan and the SDO Umerkot Moula Dino Sangrasi.

They had been asked to explain their position as to why they did not issue detection bills to those consumers which were recommended by the M&T department after checking connections.

Officials on checking power connections in all four-sub division of Mirpurkhas found hundreds of consumers involved in stealing power through different means.

The XEN Mirpurkhas Mohammed Haneef Meo said soon after receiving explanation notice, the SDOs started issuing detection bills to consumers.

Rain: Rain lashed Mirpurkhas and its vicinity on Monday evening after two weeks of heat spell. Residents of Sindhri, Jhillori, Khaan and Mirwah Gorchani took a sigh of relief with an end to hot spell.
