HYDERABAD, Aug 7: District Coordination Officer (DCO) Aftab Ahmed Khatri on Tuesday recommended to the health department to issue show-cause notices to night shift staff of the Qasimabad Taluka Hospital and medical superintendent of the Tando Jam Hospital after he found them negligent during a surprise visit.

He told journalists at his camp office that he and his staff members paid the surprise visit to the Qasimabad Hospital on Monday night at about 3.30 am to monitor the performance of medical and paramedical staff on night duty and found the outer gate of the hospital closed and doctors and paramedics on duty asleep.

In another surprise visit to Tando Jam Hospital on Aug 4 at about 10.00 am he and his team found the medical superintendent of the hospital absent from duty, he said.

The DCO said that the district government had made huge budgetary allocations for health sector to ensure people got efficient service round the clock and the district nazim had decided to take strict action against the negligent medical, paramedical and managerial staff to ensure the investment being made in the health institutions did not go down the drain.

The district government had formed secret supervising and monitoring committees to keep vigilance over the performance of development and non-development departments and extract feedback from the stakeholders to make their performance better, he added.—APP
