LARKANA, Aug 5: Within a couple of days, about 25,000 flood affected families in Qambar Shahdadkot district would start receiving cheques for Rs15,000 each as announced by President General Pervez Musharraf.

Qambar Shahdadkot DCO Mukhtiar Hussain Soomro said this while briefing an eight-member team of the World Bank and Asian Development Bank (ADP) on Sunday.

He said the amount for the purpose had been received and the heads of the displaced families had been asked to open their accounts in banks. The banks were asked to entertaining old and new national identity cards for the purpose.

The cheques disbursement would be made through army, revenue and elected representatives, he said.

The flood and rain water from Balochistan had inflicted tremendous damages which ruined 12 dehs and dislocated 150,000 people which had been provided shelter in 76 relief camps.
