KARACHI: Hashmi’s release hailed

Published August 5, 2007

KARACHI, Aug 4: President of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, Sindh, MNA Asadullah Bhutto has termed the release of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Javed Hashmi a victory of the democracy.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, he said the order had reinforced masses’ confidence in judiciary. He also paid tribute to Javed Hashmi for preferring languishing in prison for several years to foil the military dictator’s attempts to browbeat politicians.

Mr Bhutto said the PML-N leader’s release would prove helpful in the opposition’s movement to oust the dictator and keep the army away from politics.—PPI
