KHAIRPUR, March 10: Eight growers were locked up at the Ranipur police station on the complaint of Tapedar of the area on Saturday.

Four of them were identified as Haji Bangal Khan, Wali, Haji Ali Ahmed, and Ashrafuddin Watano.

The arrested growers alleged that the Tapedar was demanding Rs26,000 as tax money while their annual income was less than that.

They further added that the original tax money was about Rs300 to Rs400 but the Tapedar was forcing them to pay extra money and when they refused to do so he locked them up.

PROTEST: A large number of growers belonging to the villages of Mahi Khan, Yar Mohammed, Khethi Wahan, Mehtani, and Ali Murad protested against the SDO, Irrigation, Gambat Taluka, and the engineer, Irrigation, Khairpur, on Sunday.

They protested in front of the taluka Nazim office, Gambat, and the office of the district Nazim, Khairpur.

Talking to newsmen the protesters alleged that the above-mentioned irrigation officials had made a breach in the Faiz Wah. They demanded an enquiry against the above-mentioned officials.

PROTEST AGAINST HESCO: Villagers started protesting against Hesco on Sunday when a man, M. Ali Jiskani, was electrocuted on the spot when a live wire fell on his truck near Razidar on Saturday.
