Pakistan to face China in opener

LAHORE, Aug 2: Pakistan play hosts China on the opening day of the four-nation Good Luck hockey tournament to be held in Beijing from Aug 8 to 13.

Besides Pakistan and China, the two other teams taking part are Olympic champions Australia and Malaysia. The event is being held to test the newly built facilities at the venues which will also host next year’s Olympics, in the capital city of China.

In the second tie, Pakistan take on Australia on Aug 9 and finally Malaysia on Aug 11.

After a rest day on Aug 12, the matches to decide position from 1 to 4 will be held on Aug 13.

A 25-member contingent will fly to Beijing, from Lahore on Aug 4.

Schedule:

Aug 8: Australia v Malaysia; Pakistan vs China.

Aug 9: Australia v Pakistan; Malaysia vs China.

Aug 10: Rest day.

Aug 11: Pakistan v Malaysia; Australia v China.

Aug 12: Rest day.

Aug 13: Play-off for 3rd / 4th position; final.
