CHITRAL, Aug 2: The district council has expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of the education department and demanded remedial measures to save the future of the nation.

In its session held here on Thursday the members said that the unnecessary political interference in the department by the members of National and provincial assemblies had marred its vitality and competence.

They said that most of the high schools in the district showed zero per cent result during the last matriculation examination which indicated the declining standard of education in the district.

The members also demanded action against the district coordination officer (DCO) for his alleged misbehaviour with a member of the house.

They presented a resolution against the officer but the district nazim deferred its passage saying that he must be provided with a chance to clarify his position before the house.
