HYDERABAD, March 10: The activists of Sindh Dost Falahi Sanghat held token hunger strike outside the Hyderabad Press Club on Sunday to protest against the alleged harassment of female teachers at the hands of the SDO (female).
Talking to newsmen, the leaders of the Sindh Dost Flahi Sangat Sindh, Eijaz Abro and Ashfaq Bhatti, alleged that the female teachers were being unnecessarily harassed and insulted by the SDO (female), Hyderabad, for demanding their salaries among other things.
They demanded that the SDO should be immediately transferred.
TOKEN HUNGER STRIKE: About one dozen chowkidars of the food grain godowns, Hyderabad, continued their token hunger strike outside the Hyderabad Press Club on the 34th consecutive day on Sunday.
Talking to newsmen, the leaders of the godowns workers union — Ghulam Shabbir and Ghulam Ali Khaskheli — demanded that the minimum pay scale of chowkidars should be fixed at Rs1,870 per month, the services of chowkidars who had served the department for five years or more should be regularized, the ward rationing officer of Hali Road should be transferred, and the chowkidars be provided uniforms.
SUGAR MILL WORKERS: Over one dozen workers of the sugar mills of Sindh under the banner of the Sindh Sugar Mills Trade Unions Federation held a token hunger strike outside the Hyderabad Press Club on Sunday to protest against the excesses unleashed against the sugar mills workers of the province.
Talking to newsmen, the union leaders — Abdul Majeed Leghari and Lakhano Jaskani — complained that the permanent and seasonal workers of the Al-Noor Sugar Mills, Moro, had been illegally sacked and they had been implicated in false cases.
