Zone-II, IV reach last four

KARACHI, Aug 1: Sami Arshad and Yasir Munir scored contrasting half-centuries to put Zone-II Whites and Zone-IV Whites respectively in the last-four stage of the KCCA Inter-zonal Under-17 Championship on Tuesday.

Sami slammed an enterprising 84 laced with 12 boundaries and a six while his bowling team-mate off-spinner Arsalan Aslam grabbed four wickets for 25 to help Zone-II Whites to a three-wicket victory over Zone-V Whites at the TMC Ground.

Batting first, Zone-V Whites were bowled out for 184 in 48 overs. Zone-II Whites reached the target in the 46.4 overs. Besides Sami’s 84, Zakir Ali scored an unbeaten 30. Leg-spinner Junaid Taimuri claimed four wickets for 47.

Meanwhile, Zone-IV Whites defeated Zone-III Whites by 34 runs at Pak Star Ground thanks to Yasir Munir who scored a patient 79 while his team-mate Arsalan Ahmed picked up 3-36.

In Thursday’s semi-finals, Zone-I Whites take on Zone-IV Whites at the KCCA Stadium while Zone-II Whites face Zone-VII Whites at the TMC Ground.
