TOBA TEK SINGH, July 31: Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi had to intervene once again to pacify two PML groups in the district council ahead of the disputed budget meeting held here on Tuesday.

The groups are led respectively by nazim Choudry Abdul Sattar and naib nazim Choudry Khalid Sardar.

The district council budget meeting was delayed by a month as a result of the tussle between the two groups. Earlier, the chief minister had to intervene in the district’s politics ahead of a by-election for the naib nazim slot. The budget meeting, presided over by Khalid Sardar, unanimously approved a tax-free budget of Rs2.84 billion for the district. Sources said that the chief minister directed the district nazim to give development funds also to Khalid Sardar group members without any discrimination.
