Robber dies in ‘shootout’

KASUR, July 30: Chunian police claimed to have killed a dacoit in an “encounter” while his accomplice escaped during a robbery bid in Deo Sial on Monday, police said. Superintendent of police (Investigation) Syed Ali Mohsin told reporters Munir Ahmed was intercepted by the robbers near Deo Sial.

They snatched cash and motorcycle from him and escaped. A patrolling police party chased the robbers. Seeing police, the accused opened fire on them, which was retaliated. After an encounter of about half an hour, one of the accused was shot dead while the other fled. The killed robber was identified Sardar, alias Osama, of Okara.
