KARACHI, July 28: Three-day Aslam Memorial bridge tournament will commence from Aug 3 under the aegis of the Karachi Bridge Association, organisers announced on Saturday.

It will be a seven-round Swiss Movement 16 boards per match competition.

On the opening day, two rounds of 16 boards each will be played with matches commencing at 5pm. Final three rounds will be played on Sunday at 3pm.

Meanwhile, Hussain Jafer and Ziaullah Baig competing from the East-West direction scored 67.21 per cent to win pairs’ contest.

Tariq Zafar-A.O. Memon occupied second position with a score of 59.78 per cent and Anwer Kemal-Ghulam Mohammad finished third with a score of 59.09 per cent.

S.M. Uzair-Dr Sarfaraz topped from the North-South direction, giving excellent display of bidding and dummy play prowess. They scored 61.88 per cent.

A.K. Bhurgri-Anwer Kizilbash refreshed their old partnership to secure second berth scoring 58.60 per cent just ahead of Abdul Khaliq-Ghaffar Qureshi who had 57.25 per cent score.—APP
