DUBAI, July 27: The clean sweep of the recently held ODI series against Bangladesh has allowed Sri Lanka to draw level with Pakistan on 111 rating points in the ICC one-day table.

However, Pakistan retain the fourth place in that table when ratings are recalculated to three decimal points.

Sri Lankan bowlers are major beneficiaries while their batsmen major losers in the ICC ODI player rankings after the team’s 3-0 home series win over Bangladesh.

Pace sensation Lasith Malinga moves up four places in the bowling list after taking four wickets in two ODIs and now stands ninth overall, replacing Bangladesh’s Abdur Razzak, who drops three places to 12th but stays his country’s highest-ranked bowler.

Malinga’s team-mates Farveez Maharoof and Dilhara Fernando also make considerable improvements in table. They climbed 10 places each with Maharoof sharing the 22nd position with India’s Zaheer Khan while Fernando now occupies the 34th place.

Bangladesh spinner Mohammad Rafique, who missed the Sri Lanka ODI series, drops two places and is currently ranked 18th while fast bowler Syed Rasel’s five wickets in the series helped him climb eight places to joint 28th position, alongside Corey Collymore of the West Indies.

There is no change in top five with Shaun Pollock of South Africa still out in front, from Nathan Bracken of Australia in second, New Zealand’s Shane Bond in third and Sri Lanka duo of Chaminda Vaas and Muttiah Muralitharan in fourth and fifth positions respectively.

Jayasuriya, who scored 53 runs in the series, slips one place and is now ranked 15th while Jayawardene has fallen four places to 16th after managing only 29 runs. Sangakarra’s 40 runs in the series cost him three places and now he stands at 20th in the list.

There is no change in the batting top three with Australian captain Ricky Ponting leading followed by Kevin Pietersen of England and another Aussie Michael Hussey as second and third respectively.—Agencies
