PESHAWAR, July 27: The Central Board of Revenue on Friday unearthed three unregistered beverage factories operating secretly in the city and evading government taxes.

A press release issued by the directorate-general of Intelligence and Investigation of the CBR, Peshawar, said a factory in the Hayatabad Industrial Estate was kept under surveillance and finally two trucks loaded with the famous brand of Thunder Cola and Thunder Dew were recovered. Raw material for manufacturing of beverages was also recovered from the factory, said the press release.

It said that in another operation, a factory on the Ring road was raided and two vehicles loaded with Dream Cola, Dream Dew and Tetra pack juices brand of beverages were recovered.

In the third operation, a factory in the Hayatabad Industrial Estate was visited where huge stock of beverages under the brand name of Tornado Cola and Tornado Dew were found.

All the above factories were operating without registration with the Sales Tax Authority and were evading millions of rupees in the shape of federal excise duty, sales tax and other taxes, the press release concluded.—APP
