KARACHI, July 27: Students of Rana Liaquat Ali Khan Government College for Home Economics bagged all the top positions in the HSC-II (Home Economics) results which were announced by the Board of Intermediate Education, Karachi on Friday.

Umaina Farooqi, d/o Ziaul Haq Farooqi, secured the first position; Farheen Sadia, d/o Usman Ahmed clinched the second position and Umme-Hani Alam, d/o Makhdoom Alam stood third. The total pass percentage remained 64 per cent and none of the candidates managed to secure A-1 grade.

According to BIEK Chairman Anwar Ahmed Zai, the board announced the results just two weeks after the last practical exam was conducted. The final paper was held on June 28 while the last practical test was conducted on July 13, he added.

Shedding light on the board’s performance over the past one year, he said that the last paper and practicals were held last year in June and the results were announced on August 5, while this year the results were announced a week earlier despite all odds, inclement weather in particular.

He said that the BIEK had added two per cent grace marks to the marks obtained by candidates in each subject. The Board of Secondary Education in its humanities results had added these marks to the total marks obtained by the candidates.

According to Prof Zai, the results of HSC pre-medical, pre-engineering and economics groups would be announced between Aug 20 and 29.
