LAHORE, July 26: Two South Korean baseball coaches Mr Lee and Mr Shin have started a six-day coaching course for Pakistani coaches and players at a local hotel on Thursday. Forty-nine players and 11 coaches from Army, Wapda, Police, and four provinces will hone their skills during the course, which ends on Tuesday.

Pakistan Federation Baseball, secretary Khawar Shah said that the course would help the federation in preparing the best team for the Asian Senior championship to be held in Taiwan in December this year.

Pakistan had qualified for the senior championship for the first time after winning the qualifiers at Rawalpindi Stadium, Rawalpindi in April last year.

Khawar, said Pakistan had to face strong Asian teams like Japan, South Korea, China, Phillippines and hosts Taiwan in the senior championship and expressed the hope that Pakistani coaches would get maximum knowledge from the course to raise a formidable team for the forthcoming event.

The senior championship is also the qualifying round for next year’s Beijing Olympics.
