JACOBABAD, July 25: Eddan canal and Lund minor of Garhi Khairo sub-canal, fed by Begari canal, developed two breaches on Tuesday night. A 40-feet breach occurred at Bux Ali village and another 30-feet breach occurred near Allahando Jamali which inundated 12 villages. Reports said that breaches occurred due to rise in water level. Villages and hundreds of acres of paddy crops were destroyed while villagers moved to safer places.

Due to breaches, Allahando Jamali, Bux Ali, Ali Bux Rahujo, Purano Budho, Ali Hyder, Ali Madad, Gul Hassan, Deedar Hassan, Qambar, Ghanwar, Mumtaz and Mohammad Usman villages were inundated.

The villagers led by Usman Jamali took out procession against irrigation officials. They observed a token hunger strike and raised slogans against irrigation officials.

The canals were not closed by the officials to plug the breaches till the filing of this report.

Earlier, Hero and Naseer canals developed breaches in Thul area on Monday night. Paddy crop standing on hundreds of acres were destroyed.

The villages including Syed Nazar Shah, Gul Mohammad Banglani, Kaloo Khan, Abdul Jabbar, Gul Mohammad Khoso and others were submerged.

Breaches in Shahi wah, Mahoopur and Manjhwati could not be plugged after passage of two days. Eight other villages, including Hassan Kumbhar, Aleem Khoso, Din Mohammad, Nawaz Ali Khoso, Yar Mohammad Khoso, Abdul Haq, Naseebullah, Muhano were inundated.
