Fake pesticide unit unearthed

SAHIWAL, July 25: Agriculture Department’s seed protection wing officials raided a factory manufacturing fake pesticides and arrested five people. The team seized the labels of popular brands of pesticides, material and 39 drums from the factory. The owner of the factory, Naseem Iqbal, fled from the scene.

The team raided Crown Star Agro Chemicals in Chak 134/9-L near the Sahiwal bypass and arrested manager Kamran Saeed, accountant Muhammad Humayun, storekeeper Atif Awnar and officers Muhammad Azhar and Kamran Shahd.

Grain Market police registered a case and were after Iqbal.

SUICIDE: Three people committed suicide in Sahiwal.

Safia Bibi, wife of Rafiq Ahmed of Chak Roshan, consumed pesticide after exchanging hot words with her sister-in-law. She died at the Sahiwal District headquarters hospital (DHQ).

Rukhsana, 18, of Mauza Waan Sawar, killed herself by taking poisonous pills when she heard her engagement was over.

Nadeem Ahmed, 16, of Chak 82/6-R, took poisonous pills and died at the DHQ hospital. He took the extreme step as his father Naeem Ahmed had admonished him. Police are investigating.

PTCL authorities are trying to restore the connections while police have registered a case.
