KARACHI, July 25: The cleanliness campaign in Landhi Town concluded on Wednesday during which 10,000 tons of garbage was lifted from all the 12 union councils of the town in 15 days.

During the campaign all rainwater drains were also cleaned, while patch-work on some 25 roads was also done.

More than 30 sewerage lines were repaired while sewerage water was pumped out; twenty-five water lines were also repaired.

Town Nazim Asif Hasnain along with Naib Nazim Dr Arshad Ahmed, TMO Noman Arshad, TO Infrastructure Prem Chand and DTO Solid Waste Kashif Siddiqui visited the area and inspected the cleanliness there.

Uplift work

Uplift work worth more than Rs100 million is underway in Orangi Town, Town Nazim Abdul Haq said while inspecting ongoing development projects in various areas.

He said the town administration was striving to provide immediate relief to the masses. He said CC flooring of small streets was also continuing in the town.

Encroachments removed

The Korangi Town administration on Wednesday removed encroachments in the Korangi Industrial Area from Bilal Chowrangi to Al-Murtaza Chowk with the help of heavy machinery.

Nazim Korangi Town Mohammad Arif Khan, Naib Nazim Asghar Qureshi and TMO Dr Mukhtiar A. Palijo supervised the drive.

The nazim said the town administration would not allow the land mafia to encroach upon government land at any cost.

Water problems

The Additional Vice-Chairman of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, Mohammad Moin, has asked the KWSB staff to visit the union councils and solve the water and sewerage problems faced by the people.

He said this while addressing a meeting of UC nazims, naib nazims, councillors and officials of the KWSB during a visit to Liaquatabad Town. Town Nazim Osama Qadri informed him about the problems being faced by the residents.

Mohammad Moin directed the KWSB chief engineer to form a committee headed by the superintending engineer to visit each UC of the town on a daily basis and resolve the problems within 15 days.—PPI
