PESHAWAR, July 23: A local court charged two persons with assaulting and killing a 12-year-old boy and remanded them in police custody for two days on Monday. Judicial magistrate Ashraf Ali directed the accused Bilal and Wasil Khan to appear again before the court on July 25.

Police alleged that the accused had brutally killed the boy and requested the court to remand them in custody for interrogation.

The deceased Mohammad Hayat went missing while playing outside his home at Ijazabad locality in Faqirabad on Saturday evening. Next day, his brother Mohammad Saleem approached the Faqirabad police station.

His body was found in an under-construction building belonging to their uncle.

Police said the owner of the building informed them that a labourer Bilal had a spare key of the entrance. Bilal, who was arrested on Sunday morning, spilled the beans to the police and narrated the entire story.

Bilal admitted that a relative of the deceased Wasil had approached him and told him he would bring the boy to the building in the evening. Both men then abused the boy and later decided to kill him for fear that he might inform on them to his relatives, police said.
