QUETTA, July 20: Two militant commanders from the Marri tribe, Daula Khan Marri and Kamal Khan Marri, and their 100 armed men, who had been fighting security forces in Balochistan, surrendered their weapons before the Commander of the Southern Command, Lt-Gen Khalid Shamim Wyne, on Friday.

The commanders announced their full support for development schemes launched by the government in the Marri area.

They admitted that they were involved in subversion activities and alleged that Nawab Marri’s sons had misguided them.

They appreciated the launching of development projects in the Marri area and opening of the Chamalang coal field for mining.

The field had been closed for years due to a dispute between Marri and Luni tribes.
