LAHORE, March 8: Students of the Government Islamia College, Civil Lines, staged a demonstration on Friday to protest against the rejection of their intermediate examination admission forms by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education.

The college administration had sent admission forms of 52 candidates seeking to take examinations in computer science, mathematics and an arts subject.

The board rejected the papers saying that it had informed the college well in time that such a combination would not be allowed.

The board had issued a notification on January 1, 2001, allowing arts students to study computer science and mathematics. The decision was later revised.

The protesters said the college administration had not communicated the revised notification by the board. They said the college administration was now advising them to change the subjects. They said that the last date to change subjects had passed four months ago. Even if they were permitted, they said, they could not prepare for the examination in the short time remaining.
