MIRPUR (Azad Kashmir), July 19: Australia’s biomechanics expert Daryl Foster says he sees a bright possibility of quality Australia-Pakistan contests in Pakistan including Mirpur, Azad Jammu Kashmir.

Foster was speaking during his visit along with other five members of the six-man delegation of Australian cricket and security experts to inspect the facilities at the recently built Quaid-e-Azam Mirpur Stadium here on Wednesday.

Besides Foster, the delegation includes Michael Brown, Cricket Australia’s (CA) general manager of operations, Steve Bernard, the Australian team manager, Geoff Allardice, the cricket manager, Reg Dickason, the security manager and Paul Marsh, the chief executive of the Australian Players’ Association.

The delegation was in the city to assess the arrangements for two proposed one-day matches to be held at the Mirpur centre on Oct 10 and 12.

While appreciating the facilities available at the Mirpur venue, Foster said that during his visit to various cricket centres of the country, including Mirpur, he was satisfied with the arrangements at the proposed stadiums. However, he added, necessary matters would be discussed further by the visiting Australian experts regarding playing the proposed matches.

He hoped that quality matches between Pakistan and Australia would be held.

Commenting on the standard of Quaid-e-Azam Mirpur Stadium, Foster termed the venue as one of the best stadiums he has visited, adding the arena was comparable with any ground of national or international repute. —APP
