PESHAWAR, July 16: Police have requested for an additional deployment of five FC platoons to help the force in averting any untoward incident in the provincial capital, a senior police official said on Monday.

“We have requested the Frontier Constabulary (FC) Commandant to send about five more additional platoons to Peshawar in order to frustrate designs of saboteurs,” SSP Operations Mohammad Tahir Khan told APP.

He informed that FC platoons had been deployed in scattered places of the city. He said security had been put on high alert in the provincial capital and its adjoining areas and the FC would assist the police force. “Extra police force has been deployed in the sensitive areas and at important buildings”, he added. Security had also been tightened at Police Lines Peshawar, mosques and checkpoints had been established at entry and exit routes of the city, he said.
