BADIN, July 13: Police had arrested 33 absconders and found five pistols, an unspecified number of bullets and five kilogramme charas in their possession during a campaign against anti-social elements in the area launched a couple of days ago, said DPO Abdul Hadi Bullo on Friday.

He said at a press conference at his office that the campaign at this stage was not against ‘patharidars’ but it was against absconders, drug pushers, anti-social elements and illegal arms.

He said that a police team arrested notorious dacoits including Naseer, son of Meharban Raja, of Rawalpindi, and Afzal Jatt of Azad Kashmir and found two TT pistols and 11 bullets in their possession during patrolling near Mirwah Bridge.

They were involved in robbery and murder and had five cases registered against them at different police stations in the Punjab and AJK, he said and added that they had been on bail in some cases and been declared absconders in others.

Mr Bullo said that they had confessed to committing robbery.
