CHAKWAL, July 11: Nine persons including two women were killed and 11 others seriously injured in a road accident near village Balkassar on Chakwal-Talagang road on Wednesday afternoon.

According to police, a Talagang-bound wagon (RIR-4265) collided with a passenger coach (JB-9486) coming from Karachi near village Balkassar.

The dead were identified as Noshaba Batool (Talagang), Muhammad Arif (Chak Norang) Hafiz Fateh Sher (Talagang), Ghulam Asghar, Muhammad Afzal (Multan Khurd) his daughter Tanzeel Afzal, Khuda Baksh (Talagang), while the names of the other dead could not be ascertained.

The injured including wagon driver Muhammad Waseem and ten others were rushed to DHQ hospital Chakwal. While three of the seriously injured were evacuated to Rawalpindi hospital. Emergency was declared at DHQ hospital.

The district administration including DPO Chakwal Sardar Maqsood Khan, DCO Chakwal Babar Khan Nasir, DSP Sadar Circle Raja Tahir Bashir rushed to the site of accident. They immediately carried out relief and rescue operation and removed the bodies and injured persons to the hospital.

Coach driver after the accident fled. Sadar police have registered case and started investigation.—APP
