LAHORE, July 10: After his impressive performance at ATP Tour World Championship in Halle, Germany and Wimbledon, Pakistan tennis prodigy, Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi has entered the main draws of the International Hall of Fame Grasscourts championship in Newport, USA.

Playing in a competition, which offers US$ 416,000 in cash prizes, Aisam played marathon qualifying matches to enter the main draw. In the third and final round of qualifiers he outclassed American rising tennis star Brenden Evans.

Both players performed impressively with Aisam eventually winning 7-6 (10-8), 6-3.

In the second round of the qualifier Aisam had a tough fight from Philip Bester of Canada.

Bester gave Aisam very tough time for two hours and 20 minutes before conceding the match gracefully. Aisam won 6-7 (4-7), 7-5, 6-2.

In the main draw singles Aisam will be up against top seed Mardy Fish of the US.

Mardy is ranked world No 38 and had previously moved up to No 17. He is currently the No 3 American on the ATP circuit.

Meanwhile, keeping in view Aisam's brilliant performance in Wimbledon, Halle, Germany and Hertogenbosh, Holland the organizers of International Hall of Fame Championship have offered him a wild card in the doubles main draw of the championship.

He will be pairing with Indian Davis Cupper Parkash Amritraj.

The pair are destined to have a tough first round draw against the top seeds Wesley Moodie of South Africa and Fabrice Santoro of France.
