Lawyers’ convention postponed

ISLAMABAD, July 10: The Islamabad Bar Association (IBA) has postponed the lawyers convention scheduled for July 12 due to law and order situation after the Lal Masjid operation.

The convention was to be addressed by Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry.

Announcing postponement of the convention, IBA Secretary General Syed Mohammad Tayyab said that all arrangements for the convention had been completed and a delegation of the bar met the chief justice to re-confirm the programme, who expressed his grave concern over the loss of lives of a large number of people during the operation.

Mr Tayyab said the chief justice, members of the delegation and the legal team of Justice Chaudhry decided to postpone the convention for few days, in order to show sympathy with the families of the affected people.
