KARACHI, July 10: City Naib Nazim Nasreen Jalil has said that the people of Pakistan and India could be brought closer together by boosting cultural activities in the region.

She said this while speaking to a renowned Indian singer, Madhup Mudgal, who, along with a delegation, called on her at her office here on Tuesday.

“There is a need to establish an organisation in Pakistan on the pattern of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations to stabilise relations between the two countries through cultural activities,” Ms Jalil said, adding that the issuance of Indian visas from Karachi was the need of the hour.

“Pakistan’s efforts for the restoration of peace in the region are positive. It is hoped that the people of both countries would come close to each other after the expansion of travel facilities,” she said.

The Indian singer said that he and his team members belonged to New Delhi and he was delighted to meet the people of Karachi.

He said that peace and love could be boosted in the region through musical activities.

Later, Nasreen Jalil presented a souvenir and Ajraks to the delegation.—PPI
