Teenager, lover commit suicide

SHEIKHUPURA, July 9: A teenager and her alleged paramour, who committed suicide by taking poison the other day, were buried in their native town Dhakampura on Monday. The girl ‘M’, a matric student, used to travel in the wagon of Akram to school. They fell in love and wanted to marry but their parents turned down their proposal.

They took poison after failing to convince their parents. The girl died before getting any medical aid.

Akram was taken to the Mayo Hospital, Lahore, where he died.

Muridke Saddar police handed over their bodies to their families.

CROSSFIRE: Six people sustained injuries, two of them serious, in a crossfire over a land dispute in Barbanwala village in the jurisdiction of Ferozewala police station on Monday.

The Javed group and Zia Subhani had a land dispute for quite some time. On Monday, they came face to face and exchanged fire. Ghulam Mustafa, Imran, Iftikhar, Javed and two unidentified men sustained injuries.

The injured were removed to hospital.

ACCIDENT: A car rider was killed on the spot when his vehicle collided with a truck near Khori on the GT Road on Monday.

Shahzad, a resident of Gujranwala, was going to Lahore when the speeding truck hit his car.

Muridke Saddar police are investigating.

KIDNAPPED: A girl was kidnapped by one of her neighbours in Badu locality near Kot Abdul Malik in the jurisdiction of Factory Area police on Monday.

The victim ‘A’ was alone in her house when accused Altaf, armed with automatic weapon, came there and kidnapped her at gunpoint in the presence of her father. Police are investigating.
