KARACHI, July 9: The National Accountability Bureau has arrested Irshad Mughal, headmaster of the Government Islamia School, Shikarpur, for his alleged involvement in the embezzlement of Rs220 million in 'General Provident Funds' of government employees in the district.

As drawing and disbursement officer (DDO), an additional charge with him, he had allegedly withdrawn/embezzled Rs11.338 million. He was produced before the Accountability Court for a remand.

Five persons including former the manager of the NBP Shikarpur branch, Ghulam Rabbani,, NBP compliance officer Zulfiqar Ali Shaikh, NBP Garhi Yasin branch officer Zahid Hussain Bhutto, NBP Hathi Dhar branch head cashier Ashfaq Ahmed Shaikh and senior auditor of Shikarpur District Account Office Noor Muhammad Ujjan were arrested earlier in the case while Abdul Wahim Shaikh and Ejaz Ahmed Memon had already been remanded in judicial custody in another NAB reference.—PPI
