Weightlifting coach arrives

LAHORE, July 4: Egypt’s weightlifting coach Reda Abdul Rahman El, hired by the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) for one year, reached the country on Wednesday.

Reda’s first assignment is to conduct a training camp from July 7 at the Islamabad Sports Complex to pick up best possible Pakistan squad for the 2007 Commonwealth Championships 2007 and 2008 South Asian Games.

Trials to select probables for the training camp will be held in Islamabad on Friday.

Having remained Egypt’s national coach, Reda has graduated in weightlifting from Egyptian Sport Academy. He stood first in All African and Arabic Championships from 1982 to 1994 and was placed fourth at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul.
