KARACHI, July 4: Armed men shot dead a woman lawyer who along with her children was standing outside her house in Korangi on Tuesday night.

Police said that the woman, Yasmeen Jehangir, 45, and her children had come out of the house to get some fresh air during a power failure in Korangi 2 ½ area. Two persons riding a motorcycle appeared there, fired at her and fled. Neighbours rushed the victim to the Jinnah Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Korangi TPO Furrukh Bashir said police transferred the case to the investigation wing after receiving the information about the incident from the hospital.

Quoting Afzal Wajid, a brother of the deceased, the investigation police said that her husband, Aslam Qureshi, had been killed in an incident of terrorism in 1993 in Gulberg.

They said that the woman’s killers were wearing helmets when they attacked her at around 1.30am.
