PESHAWAR, July 1: Two suspected terrorists were killed when a bomb they were allegedly trying to plant at an oil tanker terminal on Ring Road exploded early on Sunday morning.
Police found three other homemade bombs lying near the bodies and defused them.
The attackers were killed when one of the four bombs they were carrying exploded as they jumped over a boundary wall of the terminal, a police official said.
Apparently, the target of the attackers was to blow up oil tankers supplying fuel to the US-led forces in Afghanistan, the official said, adding that 25 tankers were parked inside the terminal.
Both attackers appeared to be in their twenties of Afghan origin and had short beards, police said.
Police said the timer on one of the bombs was set at 2.45am, the second at 3.15am. Police also recovered an AK-47 riffle and a pistol from the dead men.
