NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, June 30: A large number of people from 25 villages supported by PPP, JUI-F, shopkeepers associations, Shehri Ittehad and Jido-Jehad Committee staged a protest meeting in Kandiaro against the roads department on Saturday.

Villagers from Mouledino Larik, Khair Mohammad Dasti, Haji Ali Nawaz Depar, Allan Kaleri, Chibhir Mangrio, Pir Bux Bhurt, Haji Jumo Kalhoro and Ghazi Khan Gopang attended the meeting.

The leaders complained that road construction work from Kandiaro to Tharushah through Kandhar village started about 11 months had not been completed as yet.

They alleged that substandard material was being used in the construction of road while the pace of work was too slow. Thousands of residents of about 25-30 villages were facing problems because of ongoing work on the road. The participants of the meeting later staged a demonstration at the Star chowk on the National Highway and blocked the road for half an hour.

PROCESSION: Activists of various political parties and Shehri Ittehad staged a procession, which started from the local press club and terminated at Tharushah chowk in Naushahro Feroze in protest against taluka municipal administration's offer for measurement of school ground on Saturday.

The procession led by naib nazim of union council of Naushahro Feroze, Dr Abdul Qadeer and others marched on different roads before reaching Tharushah chowk where they observed a sit-in for half an hour.

They said that as there was no government land between the high school ground and the road there arose no question of getting it measured.

They alleged that it was an attempt by district officials to protect the influential revenue officer who had encroached upon the playground.

They appealed to the higher authorities and chief minister to complete the inquiry and ensure removal of encroachment from 114-year-old school’s ground.
