KASUR, June 28: Police killed two dacoits in an encounter on Thursday while as many constables also sustained serious injuries. This was claimed by SP (investigation) Syed Ali Mohsin in a press conference here.

He said one Muhammad Latif was on his way to Bawaywala from Khudian when two robbers stopped him at gunpoint and made off with his motorcycle, cell phone and cash.

On receiving information, a patrolling team, headed by SHO Malik Tariq, chased the dacoits. Meanwhile, the bandits held a passerby, Qari Zubair, hostage. On seeing the police, the dacoits opened fire. During a shootout, the robbers sustained injuries and died on way to hospital.

Constables Muhammad Arshad and Muhammad Gulzar also sustained serious injuries during the encounter. They were rushed to Kot Radha Kishan THQ hospital.

Police recovered Qari Zubair from the custody of the dacoits.
