Convicted prisoner dies

RAWALPINDI, June 26: A convicted prisoner died on Tuesday, but the jail authorities said he died of heart attack.

Mohammad Idris, 45, son of Mohammad Nazir was arrested by the Kahuta police and later he was sentenced to two year imprisonment after having been convicted in a Smuggling case.

The deputy superintendent Adiala jail Noor Hussain told Dawn that Mohammad Idris was in barrack No 8 and was quite healthy. On Tuesday morning after having his breakfast he complained about chest pain.

He said on seeing him suffering from pain, the other inmates of his barrack came to him and shifted him to jail hospital. But he was pronounced dead by the doctor on reaching the hospital.

Staff Reporter from Islamabad adds: A minor girl was killed on Tuesday when a pistol with which she was playing went off, police said.

The incident occurred in the house of Mustafa Kamal Pasha, an owner of a goods transporting company at Dhoke Sulman.
