HARIPUR, March 5: Two people, including the son-in-law of a former provincial minister, were shot dead by unidentified people in Mohallah Baboo here on Monday.

According to witnesses, Nawaz Khan of Beer, the son-in-law of former provincial minister Ayub Khan Tanoli advocate, was on his way to the resident of one of his relatives in Mohallah Baboo when he was intercepted by two persons who opened fire on him with Kalashnikov, killing him on the spot.

In the meanwhile, a person from a neighbouring house tried to rescue the victim begging for his life but he too was killed by the assailants who later fled. He was identified as Haji Mohammad Yusuf.

The family of the victim so far has not nominated any person or persons in the case. However, the sources attributed the double murder to an old feud between the families of Nawaz Khan and his relatives. It may be recalled that the younger brother of the victim, Sajjad Khan advocate, was also murdered by their opponents in 1992 reportedly.
