ISLAMABAD, June 26: The commerce ministry has clarified a news report published in Dawn on Tuesday (June 25) under the caption `Rs842.2m embezzlement detected in export funds’.

According to a commerce ministry press release, the word “embezzlement” has no relevance with the text and does not figure anywhere in the report.

The ministry further states that the contents of the press report do not relate to the audit year 2005-06 and relate to earlier years.

Dawn report said that Rs842.2 million irregularities had been found in the ‘Special Audit Reports on the Accounts of Export Development Fund and Export Market Development Fund for the audit year 2005-06'.
