ISLAMABAD, June 24: Wapda chairman Tariq Hameed said the contract for the 960-megawatt Neelum-Jhelum hydroelectric power project would be awarded next week to a Chinese company.
“The tendering process for the seven-year project has already been completed,” he told state-run PTV.
He said that the Mangla raising project would start storing extra water from April 2008, enabling it to generate 190MW of additional power that would be available next year.—APP
