LONDON, June 21: Pakistan off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq is yet to play for English County Sussex as they are working on getting his passport processed. “We’re working with Saqlain and other advisers in order to get his passport processed as soon as possible. We hope this will come through in the next few weeks - though of course nothing can be confirmed as yet.

“When it has been approved, Saqlain will be available for the team selection,” Sussex Chief Executive Gus Mackay said in a statement on county’s website, issued to keep all supporters in loop with regard to Saqlain’s current situation.

‘Saqqy’ has been working extremely hard both in nets and on his fitness. He is seen most days on outfield in some capacity or another, and is desperate to get playing again, website mentioned.

Sussex say the off-spinner has also been a fantastic influence on young spinners at the club, who now have a wealth of experience and knowledge to call on with former Pakistan spinners Mushtaq Ahmed and Saqlain both around.

“All in all, Saqlain has fitted into Sussex family with ease. We are all looking forward to day he pulls on martlets for the first time,” the website added. –Agencies
