KARACHI, June 21: A large number of jubilant leaders, activists and supporters of the Pakistan People’s Party participated in the 54th birthday celebrations of the party’s chairperson, Benazir Bhutto, at Kakri Ground in Lyari on Thursday. The programme was organised by the PPP’s Karachi chapter.

Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Mian Raza Rabbani, Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, PPP Sindh chief Syed Qaim Ali Shah and city chief Rashid Rabbani, MNA Sardar Nabil Gabol, MPA Rafique Engineer, Qasim Baloch and Saleem Hingoro spoke on the occasion.

Prominent PPP figures Aftab Sha’aban Mirani, Zafar Leghari, Agha Siraj Durrani, Dr Fehmida Mirza, Shah Mohammad Shah and Afaq Shahid, as well as office-bearers of the party’s provincial, district and city chapters and the labour bureau were present at the ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, the leaders said that 2007 was the year of election which would also see the end of dictatorship and politics of terror.

“The days of the present military rulers and their proxy government are numbered and so are those of the terrorists implementing their writ,” they added.
