241kg heroin, rockets seized

QUETTA, March 4: Frontier Corps has seized huge quantity of heroin, arms and ammunition from the border town of Chaman and an area close to Pakistan-Afghan border in Chagai district on Monday.

According to sources, Chagai militia, a wing of frontier corps, has raided an abandoned house near the Pakistan-Afghan border on a tip-off and recovered 241kg of fine quality heroin. The heroin was buried in the ground to be smuggled to the coastal area and then abroad.

The militiamen also seized an aircraft gun and 145 shells. However, no arrest could be made as the culprits disappeared into the mountains.

In another raid, conducted by FC men headed by Major Aftab near Chaman, recovered 40 rockets from a hideout of the gun- runners. No arrest was reported.
