LAHORE, June 18: Pakistan’s tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi will be appearing in the forthcoming Wimbledon championships which start from June 25.

“Thanks to my recent achievements, my ranking has improved to 250, which has enabled me to enter the Wimbledon,” Aisam said on Monday.

“Due to injuries and other reasons during the second half of 2006 my world ranking had gone down below 450 and it was my prime target to regain a better world ranking, at least to a level whereby I could enter the Wimbledon,” he stated.

“I hope to do well in this Wimbledon though I am currently struggling with a groin problem,” he expressed.

Aisam has made some memorable achievements in his tennis career recently.

First, he won the singles and doubles finals in Dubai, followed by a singles triumph in the Kuwait Open. Later, he excelled in Europe where he defeated four Davis Cuppers of leading nations in the main draw of the ATP Championships in Halle, Germany and Hertogembosh, Holland.
